Last weekend we took a trip to visit Tommy's cousin Gela. She lives in the beautiful, medieval village of Bebenhausen. We have been there before and you can read about our first visit here. You can read about the village here.
Bebenhausen is located only 3 km from Tuebingen. Tuebingen is a University town with the Neckar River running through it.
This picture is taken from our boat. You can see the other boats and the old part of Tuebingen.
The same afternoon there was a Duck Race on the Neckar along with a big Children's fest. There were jump castles, games and face painting, and of course the duck race.
Cy in the jump castle.
All four kiddos having a blast.
Me and Gela
Grace having her face painted.
Lore Mae even sat still to have her face painted.
Cyrus thought he wanted his painted, but shortly after this picture was taken, he wanted it wiped off.
Here come the ducks!
A duck race is very exciting!
After the duck race we walked into the old part of Tuebingen. There was a regional market happening that day, so we were able to see local artists and taste local cuisine.
We found out that Gela loves Schwaebisher Whiskey.
Gela, Tommy and I tasting the Whiskey.
Jewelry store we stopped at so Gela could ask my opinion about some earrings. The shop had beautiful things. I got a pair of earrings and Sarah and Grace both made a list of what they wanted. I guess we will be going back before Christmas!
Cyrus amusing himself in the jewelry store. I think he decided the face painting was not so bad.
On Sunday morning we took a walk around Bebenhausen.
The German flag is flying in celebration of the 20th anniversary of the reunification of Germany.
On Sunday afternoon we took a trip to see Hollenzollern castle.
Waiting for our tour of the castle to begin.
What a great way to end a great visit.
Thanks Gela!
Thanks Gela!
