Ulm

A few days after Christmas, Mom, Catherine the girls and I took a day trip to Ulm, Germany. It is only about an hour and a half form here and is home to the tallest church in the world.

It was raining and a bit cold, but it was a great day.

Even from very far away and turning the camera on its side I could not get the whole thing in the shot.

The square in front of the church. Like I said it was a dreary day, but fighting the rain was worth the chance to see this magnificent building.




Inside there are something like 50 alters. Here is one that has a spiraling staircase to get to the podium.

It was very dark inside. (and very cold!) Not many of the inside shots came out.

There was this sand table where you could for 50 Euro cent purchase a candle light is and place it in the sand. I think Grace did about 4. Maybe she had alot of prayers that day, or maybe she just liked to light the candles???

There was also a bulletin board where you could write your prayer and post it. It was very interesting to see so many prayers in so many languages. Grace and Sarah both did one. Don't know if you can read it, but they both asked God to help them be better people. As if they could get any better! My sweet girls!

There are 768 steps that you can climb to the top of the steeple. Only
384 were open that day. We made it up 116 before Mommy and Granny almost had and anxiety attack. This shot is from where we stopped.
